Dr. Rhea Hurnik grew up on the East Coast of Canada on Prince Edward Island. Being outside horseback riding, open-water swimming, working at a lavender farm and community garden, and working at a local organic farm cultivated a passion for nature. She also enjoys sports, swimming competitively in high school and then later as a varsity athlete at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Now, Dr. Rhea has begun coaching for Burnaby Mountain Secondary School swim team. Currently she enjoys running, training for mostly half-marathons and a few trail races.
Personal experience brought Dr. Rhea to naturopathic medicine. After seeing a naturopathic doctor for her own health concerns, she was hooked. She loved the integration of nature with research and science. She made the move out to the west coast the following year and began studying naturopathic medicine at Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine.
Dr. Rhea wants to help patients solve their health concerns in the least invasive but most clinically effective way possible. She aims to integrate the best available evidence with natural treatment options.
